Greetings Superstars!
Have you ever heard of ‘Christmas in July?’ It’s a marketing blitz done by the Hallmark Channel to repurpose their extensive catalog of Christmas romances in the middle of summer. That’s why Christmas is on my mind this week. I remember that every year as we crested the first of December, “A Very Reggae Christmas” was dropped onto the turntable in my family living room and it was on.
I haven’t found a copy of that particular album yet, but in honor of Christmas in July, here are 10 reggae holiday hits:
Christmas Is Here – The Wailers
Rudolph Was a Rude Boy – The Downsetters
Feliz Navidad – Freddie McGregor
We Wish You a Merry Christmas – Jacob Miller & Ray I
Happy Christmas – Toots & The Maytals
Santa Claus Never Comes To The Ghetto – Yellowman
'Tis De Season – Yellowman
Santa Claus Is Ska-ing To Town – The Granville Williams Orchestra
The Night Before Christmas – Eek-A-Mouse
Christmas A Come – Eek-A-Mouse
These are just a few of my favorites—please comment if you have any reggae holiday songs to share.
We wish you an Irie Christmas and a Natty New Year!
This week, I hope you get a chance to slow down and enjoy the moment you’re in.
