Greetings Superstars!
It’s the week of Thanksgiving here in the U.S., with people gearing up to feast and watch American football, mostly. My favorite part of the day is in the morning, watching the giant balloons pass by at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on television.

It’s a wonderful practice to be thankful—especially when things aren’t going your way. Being thankful reminds us that there is always something good in our lives, and lets the universe know that we get it.
Aside from gratitude and oversized balloons, Thanksgiving has never been my favorite holiday. It has always seemed weird to me to celebrate a group of colonizers.
So instead of naughty pilgrims, let’s celebrate the wonderful Arawak people—the sweethearts who arrived on St. Croix and other Caribbean islands around the year 800.
These peaceful, nature-loving souls—sometimes called Taínos—brought music to the islands well before reggae took hold. Here’s a recording of a Taíno-Arawak welcome song:
How gorgeous is that?
Here’s to all of the peaceful people in this world—past, present, and future. You are who I’m thankful for!
This week, I hope that you remember to be thankful for any and every little thing that is good in your life, and that you never forget to consider all sides of every story you hear.
No one can take away your thoughts! 🌴
